PHILOSOPHY
Every touchdown, home-run, slam dunk has a unique feeling to every one of us. These feelings spark a memory from the past that brings excitement to the game they once or still play. Most individuals just enjoy the thrill of the game and the passion that comes from the athletes during the heat of the match. Others, enjoy the science that allows those athletes to execute that play.
As a former college athlete and current athlete, I always wanted to be the most conditioned player on the field. I didn’t want a weakness for my opponent to exploit. I didn’t want to miss a tackle or slack while stealing a base because I wasn’t conditioned enough to make that effort. However, I never knew or got an answer on how the body worked to make myself into that kind of player. I finally found my answer in the summer of 2014 and was introduced to the world of exercise physiology and strength and conditioning.
My philosophy is the total development of the athlete by utilizing multi-joint exercises, assessing and developing metabolic demands, the willingness to never give up, and injury prevention. Utilizing multi-joint exercises allows for strong and powerful athletes to take on that defender or hit that home-run. Developing metabolic demands allows the athlete to play all 90 minutes of the match plus stoppage time. The willingness to never give up is when you’re down by 2 and your teammates are counting on you to make your free-throws. By providing a positive, safe, and demanding environment; the athlete can achieve past the potential that they didn’t know they could reach. Combining all these attributes, the athlete can ultimately achieve the overall goal: WIN.
